I’m told the book; I won’t get my copy till Monday either, also goes into a meeting with Larry Page, who had been mentoring prior to this betrayal, which occurred after he had kicked Schmidt off his board for betraying Apple. In that meeting told Page that Google lacked focus and was tossing out crap just like Microsoft used to. As a result Google has been focusing a bit more but their DNA appears to be, outside of Search, that of a “C” student. Their tagline appears to be “we strive to be good enough for a free product”. Or, another words, we’ll build products that people wouldn’t think of actually paying for. Certainly ok for free email and search, somewhat problematic for business offerings.
