BATON ROUGE, La. — Former Louisiana Gov. Charles “Buddy” Roemer is abandoning his bid to win the Republican presidential nomination and will instead try to run as an independent candidate.

Roemer says he will make a formal announcement Thursday in California.

This gives me hope, although I'd still prefer Paul. I liked Huntsman too, but he backed Romney...

    Ya know, if the GOP was not being run by koo-koo Birds, this is the guy that gave them the best chance to win the general election. But in typical republican ( we are clueless) mantra, they are sticking with the Clowns and their billionaire benefactors.
